For Life – Internationalism and Justice Instead of G7

The G7 can be understood as an image of global injustice and the continuation of oppressive colonial structures. The summit brings together the heads of states of the global north (Japan, France, Great-Britain, Italy, Germany, Canada, and the United States), where they deliberate on the crisis of the world and how to solve them. This year they do so under the German presidency, with the motto: „Fortschritt für eine gerechte Welt“, while excluding the peoples, that are affected most by the global crises of environmental destruction, recessions and war. It seems, the G7 are aware, that their economic and political power relies on the exploitation of countries of the global south.

A counter-proposal to this exclusionary gathering is the G7 mobilization caravan – a three-week tour through Germany in June 2022, where activists from the Global South will make their voices heard and mobilize to protest the G7 summit in Elmau, Bavaria (from June 26-28, 2022). The guests come from different regions of the global south: Iran, Afghanistan, Palestine, Western Sahara, Namibia, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, Kurdish diaspora in Germany. They will join the caravan and tell the stories of their struggles embedded in emancipatory, socio-ecological and freedom movements, and the impact of the policies of the G7 countries on these struggles. The stories and experiences they will share, speak to the following subjects:

• energy politics in colonial continuity: multinational corporations, NAFTA, fracking, wind energy
• land grabbing, dispossession
• freedom struggles; decentral and autonomous organization
• feminist and workers’ struggles and organization
• militarization

The mobilization caravan „For life … instead of G7“ has the following aims:

• to make the stories visible that are ignored by the political and economic powers of the West
• to show that the most affect peoples and areas (MAPAs) already have solutions to the crises
• to connect the struggles of emancipatory, social-ecological and freedom movements of the world that propose an anti-capitalist, anti-patriarchal and anti-colonial alternative to the status quo
• to strengthen international solidarity between peoples

The counter-actions will take place between June 6 and 29, 2022, mainly locally in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen as well as in Munich. In addition to decentralized actions, two large-scale demonstrations are planned:

• Saturday, June 25 in Munich
• Sunday, June 26 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Between June 24 and 28, there will again be an action camp in Garmisch. Additionally, a mobilization tour and two alternative conferences are being planned. A joint mobilization call of the groups involved in the protests has been published recently.

The trip will start on 6.06.2022 and we want to be out and about until the start of the G7 Protestcamp in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on June 25th, 2022. From June 25th to 29th we will be at the protest camp with the caravan, where we’ll curate a program-tent with internationalist topics. Last Tuesday, the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen has issued a ban against our camp. This has generated extensive media coverage and caused much outrage. So want to come among men, the next week to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in order to protest the G7, no uncertainty arises, we would like to explain in this text, what the ban means concretely.

At the camp on the northern outskirts of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, we wanted to provide for all arriving activists camping areas, food, water and electricity. The authorities want to prevent politics and at all costs. We will complain against the decision – should the action camp will have success built as planned.
But even if that does not succeed, we will leave no stone unturned in order to provide an infrastructure that allows thousands of people to reside in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen from 3rd to 8th of June.

The infrastructure that is needed to survive, we will also provide without Camp area – at a time of demonstrations, of which there are, distributed in the urban area, several are. These are logged around the clock and there are program so that man then can provide there. After right of assembly is allowed to stay there even throughout human. Only that is slept there, the police want to avoid in any case.

That is why we are looking for further parallel still faces – among others, we have applied for, two sports fields in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald, to use as a surface for sleeping. This would then not equipped with infrastructure for basic services would man control the duration of rallies.

It is tremendously important that we not let ourselves be put off by the run-up to repression. The Camp prohibition is intended to keep as many activists, or to get them to arrive only for the big demonstration and evening to disappear. This must not succeed!
Whether with or without the camp, we will be during the week of action through on-site, and logically then also sleep there! Whether this for Anwohner_innen, the environment and our nerves happens gentle a way as possible to, now rests solely on the cooperation of the community and at the decision of the Transferred.

Dear Madam or Sir,

the G7 summit is only two weeks away from now. During the five days of our
planed protests against the summit and it’s policies people from Germany as
well as activists from all parts of the world will be joining us.

Prior to the demonstrations authorities, municipalities and police are trying
to evoke fear amongst the citizens of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Any means seem right
to limit the demonstrations.

Therefore we kindly invite you to the our press conference with
